Goodbye Volvo wheels:

For now.

Yesterday we finally got snow. Real snow. I took that as the cue that it was finally time to swap the Volvo wheels for the OEM 16s and snow tires.

One last picture with the Rs:



No longer the Focus with the Volvo wheels, it looks like lots of other '12s and '13s in my city using the Sport wheels as winters. At least it's ready to take on the weather now.



Now the Rs get to be cleaned and put away in storage.



I meanwhile, get all winter to decide what to do for next season. Throw these back on, or look for something new? I don't know yet.

@Twenty , Would you be able to take a picture of how the shorty antenna fits in your stock receiver? I've been looking around for an antenna but nothing seems to fit "nicely" into the hole without looking entirely stupid.

Even just a few days into winter driving I'm glad I'm at stock height, looking at the snow piles accumulating everywhere.

After university. The plan was to have warranties for large things while in school. Plus, I have a rather noticable clunk/loose component sound coming from the rear of the car now. Everything underneath was firmly mounted when I checked a couple of weeks ago, thought it seems to be worse now that it's colder out? I hope you can see it clearly here; the T1R antenna's base is smaller than the OEM antenna, but it doesn't bug me.

Here's what I'd suggest checking first: Crawl underneath and check to make sure your sway bar endlinks are firmly attached, the sway bar brackets are still attached, and check your lower shock mounting points.

If those all check out, I'd move on and double-check your upper mounting points for your rear shocks.

Those are all the first places I'd check for a clunk.

I had checked the sway bar and all of its points, but not the shocks. I noticed a light case of it one day so I inspected it while it was in the air after work. Now that it's colder outside, it's more frequent.

When I get a chance I'll wash the undercarriage and lift it up again. I'm not at work right now while we deal with the family emergency though.
