Just posted this in another thread- but I used clear Duplicolor over plastidip on my grille.

Not quite as smooth as I wanted, may try again. But I tested it on some other metal first- it peeled off if it was super thick first. Wetsanded and compounded the clear, not bad for a first try though.

Hmm nice work.. you grill looks good but what you did with the emblem? You just make that completely black or this is just covered with tape? But the grill looking nice. I like this thread because I got many ideas of plasti dip the car parts and make the car more beautiful.

I plastidiped both the grille and the emblem, but I only clear coated the grill. So the emblem is just strait plastidip. I plan on finding some overlays for the emblem as soon as I make up my mind what I want- but I wanted it to contrast gloss to matte- so when I find a glossy emblem it will contrast nicely with a matte ring and bring the lower grill texture up. Doing the same with the back emblem too.

For anyone planning on doing rims, this is how i did mine, taping was an excesive amount of work. Get some note cards put them down into the space between the rim and the tire and overlap them. take maybe 45 seconds to set up without all the taping and then peeling.

I just used junk mail when i did my winter set.. pretty much anything you can get into the space between the tire and rim will work.

yep.. that idea has been covered numerous times in this thread.. but its so long, i'm sure it gets skipped over and over again..

mail, index cards, playing cards... anything thin enough to fit in the gap between wheel and tire
