First I have to figure out why the car won't start. I'm getting nervous that the cams might've been 180 degrees out of phase, but I don't think that's possible.

Step 1. Drink beer to calm self.

Step 2. Drink another beer to calm self more

Step. 3..if by this point you aren't sure. have a fresh pair of eye's take a gander. sometime's the most obvious thing is the hardest to spot by the person that looks all the time

Should not be possible. You did use the timing tools (pin+plate), right? The focus is THE easiest car to time that I have ever worked on. For those that haven't had the pleasure:

1. Before installing cams, set the crankshaft to TDC using the pin (should have already set that during disassembly).
2. Install cams as close to TDC position as possible. Set to TDC using plate.
3. Set timing belt tensioner.
4. Torque cam gears without putting pressure on the timing tools (helps to have 2 people).
5. Remove TDC pin & plate.
6. Rotate engine via crankshaft through one or two revolutions.
7. Find TDC using pin again, check that plate still fits (shouldn't to wiggle cams much, if any).
8. Remove pin & plate, install TDC pin bolt, slap the valve cover & plugs back on, start-er-up.

You probably don't need this, but just remember: if you have air, fuel, and spark (at the right time), your car will start

Did you remove any fuses? Are they back in? Is every connector (cam position, coil, MAF, etc) connected?

I definitely have fuel (could smell it near the exhaust pipe), and I doubt air is a problem. All I can think is the cam tool might've fit into the cams when they were both upside down, but I couldn't say for sure if that's possible.

Right-o, it definitely only fits one way. I wondered the same thing, so I checked. IIRC, at TDC the slots are higher than at 180.

(a) fab an intake box similar to the FC box, but from aluminum, using parts from a FS Cool-Flo
You mean something that looks almost like this Matt?

lol I agree. I am going to be going through the same process as he is going through soon enough when I decide to strap on my JRSC. So just watching this I am knowing which things to avoid and what to do. The things I want to avoid is forgetting parts off the car lol
