Whenever i load a new tune on the SVT it fails half way through, then it says you must reload the stock tune, which also fails a couple times. Finally i get back to stock and it will now allow me to load the custom tune. Any ideas?
I've been having the same issue with mine for the past few months, but I can't get custom tunes on at all, or perhaps I'm not trying enough times. I haven't gotten around to calling SCT yet. I have an SCT SF3 tuner, and the most recent firmware. (It worked before on a previous FW version, of course.) Not sure if this is related or not, but I'm also unable to download the most recent Tune Revision to the tuner via the automatic updater. I'll post a solution if I ever get it figured out.
Had this same problem yesterday when I was loading my tune. Failed twice while loading the tune and once while returning to stock. Finally got it on the third try though.
Trying to return the vehicle to stock in the normal manner will fail, but I can return it to stock tune by: trying to again download a custom tune, turning the key off as it updates (resulting in a download error), the tuner asks to return to stock, I accept and the update works successfully. The car will then start, on the stock tune.
Wow.... IDK what to tell ya man. [] Worst case is you'd have to trailer it to a Ford dealer to have it reflashed, correct?
What SCT needs to do is have previous versions of all of their FW and Tune Revisions available for manual downloads. Perhaps they do somewhere, or maybe they could provide them through email or something.
Man that sucks, wonder if SCT would comp you in any way for it. (Probably not, I'm sure there's tons of disclosures built into their products and services). At least the car is operational now though.
Honestly I'm kind of scared to try putting Tom's tune back on as well now.. Obviously it's SCT's fault and not yours Tom. It just sucks that I had the tuning process working perfectly before, then made the mistake of updating to the latest versions of SCT's firmware. My work hours conflict with their call-in hours so I don't really have time to call them either, sounds like they might not be much help anyway.
You will have the other as a stand by , being in the position your in for the IDS it would be interesting to see if it loads to this ECU , then try the other when it gets back from SCT and see what it does with the old one
I had to fight just to get them to cover the shipping for me to send the ecu and tuner to them. They really couldnt care less that there issue with the SVT, litterally 4 different techs told me well the SVT can be "finicky" and to keep trying.
Now that i have two ECUs both paired to the same key, would i be able to switch back and fourth between the two? Or will i have to reprogram the keys each time?
Unfortunately you will have to set the keys each time
I am sorry people are having issues , I have been asking for this stuff to be fixed for almost 10 years now , the more that call and voice there opinions the quicker it might get fixed
When i loaded mine i was told to make sure i had a battery charger hooked up .... was told about voltage sensing issues. So all 3 times i played around with mine from FSWerks i did that with no problems.
I had the same problem about 8 months ago, I switched to a livewire and it works like a charm, there's definitely a problem with their firmware and they don't want to fix it.
I'm not aware of any way to return to previous versions, SCT only supports the automatic updates. Maybe they save them somewhere and could manually send it to me, not sure. The problem is that I don't know what FW I was using when the tuner was operational.
I just downloaded the latest FW (1.2.145-3015, released 10/08), which worked, then attempted to download the latest Tune Revision (2.041 - Full Version, released 10/08), which failed. I have not yet tried to re-tune the car, I don't feel comfortable doing so until the Tune Revision "takes". This is using the latest Device Update Software (2.9.8.35, released 10/11), btw.
Moral of the story: if your SCT tuner works, DON'T MESS WITH IT.
Well I have a xcal 2 and just ran into the fail tune the other day it failed 4 times scared me but 5th time it work, I was forced to update my frimware since I didnt have Live Load Ford on my computer to set a tune, and to get Live Load Ford to work I needed both updates but my SCCT works better now and it loaded the tune fine..... I know we're not suppost to update them, but I had no choice with the xcal 2 if I wanted to load a new tune to the device
