SCT xcal 3, Error 1019 unlock ecm failed

Just bought tuner from FSwerks. Doesn't work. Noone has a legit answer to this problem on other forums. Runaround answers with fuses and whatnot. Simply put i should be able to install my custom tune file just like in the instructions, but i can't. What do i do now?

Iv always had the same problem. Pisses me off to no end when it takes over an hour to get the thing to load for any changes made in the settings. lucky you managed to get it on the 5th try, my average is the 12th attempt before it will load a tune on my car.

It usually took me about an hour to do when I had my Duratec. I had a Hypertech Power Programmer when I had my S-10 and it only took about 10 mins or less.

I'm having some similar tuning issues with my SF3. Here's what I emailed to SCT, they told me to call Tech Support, which I'll be doing when I get a chance to:
Quote:
I am having some issues with my SF3 tuner, part number 3015. The car in question is a 2002 Ford Focus SVT. The main issue is that I can no longer download custom tunes to the car (I was previously able to). The tuner will go through the ECU Update process, then report that file cannot be read or written. It then goes through the Engine Update process and similarly fails. At that point, the car is untuned and will not start. Trying to return the vehicle to stock in the normal manner will fail, but I can return it to stock tune by: trying to again download a custom tune, turning the key off as it updates (resulting in a download error), the tuner asks to return to stock, I accept and the update works successfully. The car will then start, on the stock tune.

I am using SCT Device Updater 2.9.7.82. I am using Device Firmware Version 1.2.142. The tuner was operating correctly on an earlier firmware version, although I cannot recall what version it was. I am using Tune Version 2.020PFDUS. The other issue with the tuner is that I am unable to update the Tune Version to 2.024PFDUS via the automatic device updater. The updater reports an update failure upon completion of the update process.
If I end up getting a resolution to this problem, I'll enlighten everyone here so that anyone with a similar problem might gain some insight.

That's a good tip on getting it returned to stock. Several people have had to go to Ford.

Yeah, I was pulling my hair out trying to get the thing to go back to stock (or any tune, as an untuned SVT simply turns into a heavy garage decoration..), trying every combination and menu in the tuner. Somehow I stumbled upon that trick and it worked. I can't say whether or not it will work for anyone else though.
