Flasher issues?

Right now my computer doesn't even read the scanner as a scanner, it doesn't recognize it as anything. Also, the tuner doesn't say SCT on it like it did when I plugged it into my computer, it's just a blank screen. WTF?

Make sure drivers are current --> http://www.sctflash.com/tsupdates.php?PNID=3000&GUD=1&GSER=1 (looks like you have to enter a SN, odd?)

But that's always the first thing to check.

If that doesn't help or change anything try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it (right click on "my computer", go to device manager, down to comports and remove the port the Xcal is on ... then "check for new devices")
sometimes the Xcal will get confused on what port it's supposed to be using, or that is to say it tries to use too high of a port number and doesn't want to work properly. Com 1 - 3 seems to work best.

Other than that I'm not sure W/O seeing it.

Another thing I've found with my Xcal II is that I have to unplug the flasher from the OBD port every time the key is cycled.
Lets say I instal a new tune. The menus tells me to turn the key off and press ok, or whatever it says. I do that. Now if I don't unplug the flasher and start the car I can't go and do anything with it. Screen is frozen. Unplug it and plug it back in and alls well.
No clue why. But confused me the first time it happened.
Maybe it's something like that with the III?

^ Try uninstalling everything from your remove program (or program and features for windows 7). You should have two drivers: SCT Driver V10.11 and X3PDEVICE (or whatever device you might have). If not then you have to call SCT
