Do you reset the ECU after a tune update?

I havnt done this to mine and ive updated it twice. It might be a little late to ask this though.

Each time i do it it clears my trip odometer so i figure its resetting it but wasnt quite sure.

I didn't do that to my car, any of the times I've messed with the tune. When flashing it back and forth I would expect it to be...well "re-flashed" so it would need to learn it's normal "learning stuff" again. Never had a problem. I'm sure someone will chime in with a much better and correct answer than mine. Again this is just my thoughts on the question your asking.

I've not done a reset with any of the update tunes , The only time that I do a reset is if I'm adding a mod or I'm working on something electrical and then I disconnect the battery cable every time.
