Old thread, Anybody Interested in working with Raw Hex?

His uploads are in Craig's repository, https://www.moates.net/files.php, which you will need to be a member to access. Though IIRC he did upload them elsewhere. Can't recall where right now.

pretty cool repository. it's got a .bin for LFQ1/KRAF5. looks like the zetec guys could join in on this pretty easily.

Finally took a look at some of the files in that repository.

The .xdf used by TunerPro seems like it is pretty straightforward, and could be translated into whatever format necessary (.xml, for example. I haven't looked at the .xml layout of the other programs, but I assume all the data is there in TunerPro's .xdf - the KRAF5 definitions looks reasonably complete).

I haven't peeked into the .bin yet. My Mac wants nothing to do with the .bin, and neither does my Linux install. I'll install the necessary programs on my Windows partition one of these days and poke around a bit...

Hmmm...things might have gotten a bit more interesting for me.

Long(ish) story short(er) - after an unfortunate run-in with a piece of Northern Illinois highway, my SVT was declared 'totalled'. I'm not entirely sure how, but the insurance adjuster found about $5K in repairs.

Anywho...the SVT is getting fixed eventually (anyone know of some ST170 bumpers?), and I bought a Ranger in the mean time...another OBDII Ford Vehicle to play with, once my Focus is back on the road.

This idea of open source tuning really has me interested/motivated. Especially live.

I also learned that a Subaru friend is more than willing to lend me the cables needed for me to learn whatever I can. Maybe I'll dump the Ranger files and see what I can see. I'd feel better attacking a cheap-ass Lima 2.5 before potentially hurting my SVT.

Unfortunately, this little project basically stagnated after my last post.

I think most of the pertinent links are already in this thread. I'm still interested in this, and could (potentially) still help out, but I don't think I have enough free time to head this up on my own right now (being an "adult" is really kind of a pain).

Calibration files are easy to come across....lol. There are Ford technicians on this forum that can obtain the PCM calibration files. Finding software to decipher those files might be a bit more difficult though.

Ford Tech dont have access to the raw PCM Calibrations/strategys thats needed , Ford tech dont actually have any access to the PCM to do things as easy as raise the idle

They only have files sent emailed to them as "updates"
