ECM Info Needed

2005 ZX5 ATX - Stock: no mods.
I had my fuel rail pressure sensor replaced at the local dealership. The service writer informed me that a reflash was required when this part is changed. The ECM was updated with the most recent update. Since then I have suffered a 1.2 MPG decrease in fuel efficiency over a 1000 mile test interval. There was one tank that was a 3.3 MPG difference. May not sound like much, but thats over $300/year for no resaon.

What are the exact differences in the 2005 tune and the update that was available as of 10/10/2010?
What could explain the difference in MPG?
Can the dealer reflash back to the 2005 tune?
What are some other options?

Sheep

First the Ford dealer Lied to you and you DO NOT have to update/Reflash just for changing a sensor , Its just a way for the dealer to make some extra $$$.$$

Problem is you cannot go back to the old tune

Once you get an updated tune from Ford will you loose it if you do a battery change and reflash your ECU? For example, I had the reflash done under warranty to help the long crank starting issue. I just changed my battery, so did I loose the update? Just curious

Best option is to buy Toms tune. It will improve the car in just about every way possible. It only costs a little more than that $300 bucks you are going to waste in gas in the next year anyways and Id be willing to bet you would save 3 more mpg than your old stock tune. In a year it would pay for itself. Seems like a no brainer to me.
