Exclamation I think I'm screwed.....

Got a used XCAL2 that worked with my '07 ST; could datalog no problem. Still had 3 tune files loaded that I didn't need since I am going to McNews for custom tuning.

Was trying to remove the un-needed tune files. After messing around I finally got Live Load 3 working.......(Here's where I think I screwed up)

-I remember seeing in the "Device Info" section the following "1 Changes Left"
-While using Live Load, I selected the "Unlock Device" option
-Now the "Device Info" reads "0 Changes Left" and I can no longer data log

I completely FKED up didn't I? The tuner will have to be sent back to SCT wont it? I need this tuner to work! I'm going to McNews on Monday to get my turbo build tuned! But first I have to load the base tune from Ray to drive my car to him! @#@@&#$!&#$!%@&@#&#$#&@#!

Is there anything I can do!? I made a stupid mistake and now its going to cost me! Maybe the SCT rep can help me out? Maybe they can restore it back to 1 unlock left?

My stomach is in knots because I've been working so hard on this turbo build and I was so close to being finished and now its gone!

Any help greatly appreciated.....

The previous owner returned his car back to stock before sending me the tuner. Does this make it possible to reset the Change count with the help of SCT Tech Support?

Specs:
FW Rev=1.14
0 Changes Left
Stat=Unused

0 changes left should not render it unable to datalog; that I think is something else. Post your steps or the error messages you are seeing.

0 changes will prevent it from being used to tune a different vehicle however. If your vehicle was the last one it programmed and the last vehicle that was returned to stock it should still program your vehicle and your vehicle only. But if the previous owners car was the last one programmed and the last returned to stock you will not be able to use it.

The only way to clear 0 changes is for it to come back to us, period.

I will try the datalogging again and see where I can get.

As for the tuning; the previous returned his car to stock and sent it to me. I was able to datalog no problem. However, I did not load a tune file to my car or save a stock tune file from my car. So if I understand what your saying I will have to send the unit to SCT to have them do their thing; even though I only made a stupid mistake!

You will have to send it in to be reset but not because of what you did. What you did HAD to be done following the previous owners use anyway. Our devices have 5 unlocks on them originally so the previous owner changed vehicles 5 times for whatever reason. Once those 5 unlocks are gone the device has to come back to us and there is a small charge for that.

Thinking about it more I came to the same conclusion. I would of had to unlock the unit anyway even though it was returned to stock from previous owner.

For the process of sending it back; I pay to ship it to you and pay the fee to unlock....do I also pay return shipping? I saw the fee was $150....tell me it has gone down!? Or does the $150 include the return shipping?

Another potential issue....the "Warranty" sticker on the top seems to have been broken. The unit seems to work fine. Will this effect the unlocking process?

I am not sure what the cost is now as that is a different department but it does include shipping back to you.

Warranty sticker does not affect anything for the unlock as all X2's are technically out of warranty now anyway. Unlocking is an out of warranty item.

You'll have to call in to our tech department to be issued an RMA number and they can let you know the final cost.

Thanks for your help. I don't feel as bad now that I know I really didn't have a choice on the unlocking thing.

Just wanted to say Tech Support was very friendly and helpful to start the RMA process. Sending my tuner to them tomorrow to get unlocked.

Would really like to thank SCT for great customer support and quick turnaround time.
