maybe the problem is you have a cumputer instead of computer...... I thought they only used those in sperm banks.

but joking aside, I don't have a clue...

Are you data logging on the XCal itself or are you using LiveLink?

Okay, that's the problem. You need to run your logs through LiveLink, which is SCT's logging program. The XCal then becomes the interface between the car and your laptop.

Here's the link for the free download:

http://www.sctflash.com/tsaddons.php?type=DL

Once you download that, you'll run your XCal from your OBDII to the laptop and record your logs through LiveLink. The logs can then be emailed to Tom.

That's what I thought as well. But there are two reasons that LiveLink is better. First, it offers many more parameters (PIDs) than does the XCal by itself. Second, it offers a graphic interface that is much easier (and fun) to use. With it you can play back your log after you get back from a drive and watch whatever PIDs you are interested in on playback. It graphs them and will offer a number of ways to portray the car's ECU feedback graphically. The file is saved basically as an Excel file which can easily be saved and sent.

When your laptop is charged, plug the XCal into the OBDII port and hook it up to your laptop with the USB cable. Next, open LiveLink. You then have to set up a “configuration,” which is nothing more than picking a list of parameters that you want logged. If I recall correctly, LiveLink tells you to turn the key to the car so it can ask the ECU what parameters are available. Here’s a list of the more common PIDs:

coolant temptchir
inject press drophir
intake air temeor
KNK SEN RETA…
loadrmediate ssor
maf countsemin2or
rpm o2 trim b2or
short term b1rpmr
SPARK SOURCE
spark term b2rpmr
thrt pos absolpmr

Once you’ve found and selected your PIDs, I would recommend that you save the “configuration.” That way you don’t have to go back, find, and select your favorite PIDs every time you want to a do a log.

After you’ve set up your “configuration,” you are ready to log. Start the engine and hit the green “start datalog” button. When you’re done with your drive, simply hit the red “stop datalog” button. At that point, you can save the log and give it a name. I just use the date along with a description of the drive (i.e. May10lowrpmcruise). Once it’s saved, you can play it back on LiveLink or you can send it to someone via email.

Hope this helps. Have fun!
