what do i need to know for datalogging?

okay guys. i think ive gathered enough information to have a general idea of how it is done but now i have a few specific questions i would like answered. this is what i have:
car is a 2000 zx3 zetec manual (cannot remember ecu code)
sct xcal2 with focussport tune
printer cable
aem uego a/f ratio gauge
toshiba laptop with windows 7
live link 3

now i need to know if the sct software is compatible with windows 7
specifically exactly what cable do i need to plug into the top of the xcal 2? the circular one, not the square one that a printer cable plugs into on the bottom. i need to order the cable online because no electronics stores around here seem to be able to help me.
how EXACTLY do i plug in the uego as an analog input? ive been told that i need a wideband a/f input in the datalog to get the best tune possible from tom.
when i make the datalog, should i make the pull on the stock file or on the focus sport tune?
should i make the pull on 87 or 93 octane?

is there anything else that i need for datalogging that ive left out? i think all i have left that i need is to get the analog input from the uego and figure out how to add that into the datalog when i make a pull.

If your getting a tune from me then you need to make the pull on my tune so I can see what all needs to be changed

There is all the info I think you will need here in the tuning section about the fire-wire to hook up the A/F gauge to the LL even has some pictures

Livelink 3 is not compatible with windows 7. You will need to install the latest version which is 6.1.

i dont believe live link 6.1 is compatible with the xcal 2 is it? this is what i read when i went to download 6.1 a while back
Known Issues in this version:
Ford X2 datalog import is not supported in this version.
Current View function does not capture correct data.

im not entirely sure what that means but i think it means that it will puke if you plug in the x2

Woah...sorry dude, missed that in the original post.

Try this link:
Data Logging A/F
It's a 9-pin DIN cable instead of a FireWire cable, I believe this is like the old "ps2" style connectors that were used for keyboards and mice before USB took over.

No, that is not what that means. X2 Ford works with livelink 6.1. What the above is referring to is on device datalogging. Importing on device datalogs from the X2 is not working. Pass through datalogging works.

im not a genius as far as datalogging goes so im kinda slow on this subject. if i remember correctly you can datalog with the X3 without a laptop and save the files to the flasher. after making the datalogs you can then transfer them to a computer. and you cannot do this with a X2. in order to datalog with a X2 you must plug it into a laptop as you are making the datalog. is this correct? is that what you mean? forgive me if im being an idiot. while my understanding of this might be better than some (very few ) i know that there are a great many more that understand it alot better than me
