xcal 2 vs xcal 3

I need everyones advice. I am in the middle of a pickle. I have a guy on my f150 forums thats selling an xcal 2 with 3 custom tunes. He's dumpin it for a good price unlocked. Would it be worth the buy or stick with saving for a xcal 3.

Unless your ECU code is the same as the other guy's you will have to have the XCal 2 re-
programmed. The last one I bought (XCal 3) cost $150 to have re-programmed. I think
both the XCal 2 and XCal 3 have the same restriction for matching ECU codes. I gave $100 for one and $110 for another used XCal 3. Add the $150 to that and it gets pricey!

Because it was custom programmed for an F150 it will not work as is on your focus and may not work on your F150 if you have one.

You would need to get new tune files for your vehicle. You also run the risk of purchasing a unit that is locked and it does cost to have the unit unlocked.

Functionality wise, the X2 and X3 do the same thing. The X3 offers a larger, backlit screen, more memory, easier to use/find analog input cable, easier to use on device datalogging and the ability to be used as both a custom tuned device and a preloaded device (3015 model only.)

just make sure it is FLASHED BACK TO STOCK, you will still have to get your own tune, but if the unit was not flashed back to stock, you will be paying 150 more to have SCT unlock it.

If it is a SOHC in a Focus then you have the 2.0 SPI engine

does the xcal 3 have any real advantages for tuning, etc over the xcal2? If so, what are they? Would it be worth it to sell your xcal2 for a xcal 3?
