failed download on sct xcal III...help!

I was trying to return my ecu back to stock tune becasue I was going to go to the dealership to get a oil change and idel/tensioner pullies checked out (changed the engine belt and it is making a drum bit tick noise). Long story short as I was going to grab the steering wheel I accidently hit the turn signal light on as the download of the tube was happening and soon after got a download failed signal. I tried it again but it automatically gave the same signal again?

I emailed Tom but does anyone have any experience with this. I do not know if I should consider my self lucky but Tom's tune stayed in place from what I could feel on my car and my car therefore still works.

Haven't got my tuner for the car yet, but the one for the truck has a million warnings about not having anything draw current while flashing so it can't be good.

Something doesn't quite sound right.

If a device fails on download like that the processor will be dead as it would have been erased then only partially programmed. Now, if it fails on an upload it is usually fine. Our device is designed though to set a download failed condition and allow for a return to stock.

For the vehicle to still be running, and the return to stock not work it doesn't seem like it failed on download.

If you go to the device info screen, what all is listed there? It will list the firmware and tune revision numbers as well as the current state of the device (married, etc.)

If you go to the program vehicle screen and try to program, not return to stock, again what happens? If the download failed condition is actually set it will not allow you to do this and will throw up a screen telling you that it must return the vehicle back to stock. If it allows you to attempt to program, the download failed condition has not been set.

We do always recommend making sure that nothing else is on during the flash process as you never really know the condition of the cars battery. This is also why we recommend removing fuses so that these items (fan and sometimes fuel pump) do not run.

I hope you didn't update your Firmware or anything before trying to put your stock tune back in.

That was what I done and it erased my stock tune from the tuner . And when I tried to get my stock tune from the car it erased the ECU memory so I had to have it towed to the dealership and have my ECU reflashed and then the SCT tuner sent back and have them reset everything before I could put my tune back on my car.

Blivit, if it does not sound right to you that is fine but that is what I see happening. My car works fine and from what I see Tom's tune is still in. When I go to return to stock it gives my download failed... Either way, I appreciate that JR is helping me out at your shop. If anything I was thinking along the lines of what focusedsalyer said which was to reflash my car to stock and have the sct tuner reset.. there would go $100 at the stealership....
