DIY ECU Tuning

I looked through the first page or two, didn't see anything.

Any geeks here? This should be easy enough to set up through Binary Editor.

No not really. Editing the files may be easy but nothing would be defined meaning you would have to figure out where the borderline knock table is for instance then find each normalizer for the table just to be able to modify it. There are hundreds of actual tables each of which uses different axes and normalizers that you would have to figure out. You would then have to figure out the security algorithms to be able to upload/download anything to the actual ecu.

That's pretty standard for any ECU reversal. Defining the tables is straightforward albeit a lot of drudgery - but there's a reason I asked for geeks and not for wrenches. :P

I was under the impression it was standard SPI bus/J3 port stuff like the Mustangs, and after '05 (maybe before) that read/writes across the OBD2 port should be standardized J2534-1 API. There's probably whole realms of stuff I'm not picking up on coming in, as I am, from left field... but that's the fun of it, no?

There was one other thread made by some guy in Colorado I think, he was doing binary editing. Do a search for the word binary in this forum.

I always wondered why no one did DIY tunes, rather then pay someone 500 bucks to upload them a file...

I do my own tunes, and dont pay people to upload files. It just took a bit of money to get the easy to use, fully functional software

Mr Davis there is a SCT Pro Racer Package out for about 795.00 that has the software and flasher so each person can do there own tuning to there ECU code

The biggest issues is about 99% of the people here should be doing there own tuning LOL

Tom
