My first datalogging experience

I datalogged with livelink and my XCal2 for the first time today. It was fun and interesting. I don't really know what I am looking at, so I appreciate any comments/tips. Especially tips on what I should be logging and why!

I was't sure what to log, so I kind of went by what the demo showed when looking at the SCT CD. I did it live while I was driving with the laptop in the passenger seat hooked up to the OBD-II so the file was kind of long. These numbers posted are at WOT. My intake temp at idle was about 90F.

I would post the graph, but I don't know how!

This is with the stock exhaust manifold in. Soon, I will log with the header and see what is different.

I forgot to log RPM

Here is what I logged:

Time (sec): 375.3159

AIR_CHARGE_TEMP: 68.77477

LOAD: 0.7883725

MAF_AD_COUNTS: 723.293

TQ_AT_ENGINE: 188.327

My A/F is standalone right now (at least the wideband output is). I don't have it hooked up to a DIN-9 yet so I can log it with my XCal. Innovate uses logworks, while SCT uses livelink, so A/F was logged seperately on a different program.

During normal driving it was consistently between 14.3 and 15.0. At WOT it got as low as 11.88. It went as high as 17.4 (less than 10 seconds after I started the car). But after I was warmed up and going from WOT to closed throttle, it would jump up to about 15.9 for a second or so, then back to near-stoimetric.

Dont worry much about what the AF Gauge does at idle , cruise or part throttle because it will be all over the place depending on where the throttle is , idle you should see 14 to 16 and allways going up and down , at cruise same thing

At WOT you dont want to see less then about 12.6 or more then about 13.3 and WOT should be some what steady

yeah i know when crusing, it can be anywhere between 14-16 and its constantly changing.

idle usually stays right at 14.7-15.1 though.. and yeah wot is steady, cousrse im boosted so the ideal wot afr for me would be diff.

looks like a good air charge temp though

Nothing. That just shows what point in the log I was at.

The log starts at 0 seconds and goes until you stop it. Time has nothing to do with the ECU.

Livelink only displays a graph of the last 90 seconds, but you can view an excel .log file of the entire thing.
