Auto Tuning

I been thinking about get a tune recently and could use some help.

If the tune changes the shift points and pressure in the transmission does cause more wear and tear on the transmission?

Does a higher octane tune really make a difference? I think the gas stations around here have 91 and maybe 93 octane.

If there is anybody with an ATX with a tune do you think it was worth it? I'm not really looking for power, just better shifting response.

Thanks, Justin

I've got an auto with 130,000 mi on it, got the tune about 20,000 ago. It's the Xcal set up with the Focus Sport tune on it. The tune did wonders for teh car. As far as the tranny---I'm not sure it really did much, so I bet the life span has remained the same.

When you do a tune and it changes the shift points and psi the clutches are slipping less going into gear this would either prolong life or keep it the same but not shorten it any

Thanks guys.

Tom, what octane do you usually run tunes at? Highest octane I can find in my area.

tuning an auto is a must do! i got my tune from tom and compared to stock the tranny shifts so much better. doesnt slip into each gear. plus at WOT you can chirp 2nd which is fun to do every once in a while. it will make the tranny last longer since the clutches dont slip as much is what i heard. even after my tune im still getting my same gas mileage and i knocked a second off my 1/8th mile time. running 10:6's @ 66 in an auto is good i guess.

When you get a tune for your car the ATX Trans should also be tuned for the added power the mods/tune adds. This is something my tunes come with
