im currently thinking about buying an SCT Xcal 2 forum another forum member

its was "married" to a 2004 zx3 2.3L Duratec

i have a 2003 zx3 2.0L Zetec

if he "unmarries" it from his car and sells it to me will it work on my car?
will it have preloaded tunes?
or can i program it myself or get an "email tune"

i just wanna kno basically if i buy it will it work or will i end up reprogramming it for $150?

You will need to know the model number and that will answer most of your questions.

We have two types of X2's. One is preloaded and the other is custom only. The part numbers are 9415 for the preloaded and 9400 for the custom only.

If it is a 9415 and he returned his car to stock, you will need to unlock using liveload from our website (but you can ONLY unlock it yourself if the previous owner DID return to stock) then you will be able to use it on your vehicle with one of the preloaded tune files.

If it is a 9400 you would still need to unlock it as above but you WILL NOT be able to use the custom tune file as it is for a completely different vehicle. You would need to get a new custom file for your vehicle in this case.

Many things...but on the surface:

-larger, backlit screen
-different case
-more device memory
-easier to use on-device datalogging
-expanded vehicle support

does this apply if it still have 'x number of unlocks' left? Say 4?

Or is that only if the device was used on that car with the last unlock, and now it has no more unlocks left?
