SCT PRP - Questions

I've been looking at picking up an SCT PRP kit for awhile now, and I'm about to finally pull the trigger and get it. However, I have a couple of quick questions:

1) If you already have a custom tune on the ECU, can the XCal 3 that comes with the SCT PRP kit be used for data-logging? Can I hook it up to my car and laptop for (near) real-time data-logging without it flashing one of its "pre-programmed" tunes?

2) Any pointers on where to purchase the SCT PRP? The prices seem fairly universal for XCal 3 + PRP online (~$700), but FocusSport seems to be offering the PRP with a free SCT Raptop data logger. Is there any reason to prefer another reseller?

3) If I purchase the SCT PRP kit like the one at FocusSport, is there anything else needed as far as being able to create/modify/flash tunes?

Thanks!

1. Yes you can datalog without having to flash a file into your vehicle using our livelink software which you can download for free from our website.

2. I am assuming that is just a typo and you mean laptop...and not raptor...we stopped making the raptor years ago. The datalogging software is free from our website.

3. If you buy the pro racer software the only thing you need is a flash device (they are normally sold separately but a lot of dealers package them together.) If you are tuning a FI vehicle you would benefit from a wideband but a on basic NA vehicle it's not necessary.

Weird. When I was on their site, one of the "specials" on the sidebar was a free Raptor with a PRP purchase. It must have been an old deal still in the rotation.

For the PRP package I HIGHLY recommend LaSota Racing (http://www.lasotaracing.com). Don LaSota trains other SCT dealers and has also written many SCT/PRP training manuals. You'll be hard-pressed to find a nicer guy as well. They offer the Pro Racer Software, X3 Powerflash and Training Video Bundle for $728. If nothing else you can pick up his PRP training manual/CD for $50 if you buy the PRP elsewhere.

Wow, I'm going to have to send him an e-mail. I've talked to him before about possible tuning and I live less than a mile from their shop.

I knew they did SCT tuning, but I didn't know they sold the PRP package.

EDIT: On second glance, it appears I need to RTFM (e.g. their site). Ha!

They're not in west Columbus anymore, off Roberts Road? Last time I checked (last year) their dyno shop was there.
