Diablo Sport Download Instruction...helpful!

I'm doing a write up on this because I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to upload tunes to my predator. I'll try to cover everything but PM me or post corrections if I missed something. Also you should realize that all computers are different, so if these setting don't work the best idea may be to give Diablo Sport a call. (Windows XP) Windows Vista should be extremely similar!

1) First of all you will need some form of PC interface kit including either a serial to serial cable, or usb to serial cable, and an A/C adapter. Specific part numbers can be found on Diablo Sports website, or you can purchase the Diablo Sport PC interface kit.
note: with a USB to serial cable you must install the cable driver before you continue!

2)Next you will need to download the latest version of “Diablo Sport Downloader” program. (should be available at this link)
http://diablosport.com/index.php?mod...display&pid=13

2)Now you will need to setup your serial, or USB to Serial port.
a.Navigate to Start> My Computer> View System Information
b.In System information select the tab labeled “Hardware”, once in that tab select “Device Manager”
c.In “Device Manager” find “Ports” and expand that list.
d.Double click to open the port in which you connected your predator.
i.The port may be labeled com1 or com2 on the back of your PC, for USB users, the port description may say “USB” in the description. The com port # can also be found in the description. It may say something like “prolific serial to USB (com3)” or something similar
e.In the ports properties, select the tab labeled “Port Settings”
f.Drop the box labeled “Bits per Second” and select the setting of 57600. (you may try 115200 but in general the slower speed is less likely to cause you problems.)
g.Click “OK” and you may exit “Device Manager”, “System Properties”, “My Computer”, etc.

3)Quickly prep your predator…part I
a.From the main menu select options>serial baud>57600
i.Should say “baud changed”
b.Exit back to main menu on predator screen

4)Setting up DS Download
a.In the “connection test” tab click the link labeled “To configure communications for you specific tool, click HERE”
b.Select u7144 in drop down box
Note: in the occasion that this setting if for some reason flawed, the setting under options are as follows: legacy connect= checked; communications protocol= normal: these are the only 2 items that should be checked, everything else remains unchecked in the options list
c.In the drop down box next to the “Help” button, select the Com port in which your predator is located.
d.Then set the baud rate to “57600”
e.Leave compressed send box unchecked

5)Prepping your predator…part II
a.From the main menu screen in your predator navigate to: options> custom tune (select continue when prompted)
b.Click import custom tune on your predator, and select continue when prompted
c.The predator should read “Importing from PC…”

6)Adding the Tune File
a.At the bottom of the screen locate the tab labeled “express tune mode”
b.Click the first box labeled “send tune file to predator” and an explorer box should automatically open
c.Browse to tune file that your tuner (Tom) provided for you (generally he will send you the tune file in an email, the best thing to do is save the file to your desktop for easy access.
d.Open/ double click the .frg / tune file provided to you and the Diablo Sport tool download box will automatically begin the sending process, the file details box should display a size other than “0” , and the status bar should read “writing packet”, and show the total upload size and the amount uploaded (the uploaded amount should be rapidly increasing…obviously)

7)Upon Completion
a.On your computer a box should say “programmer download was successful” click okay
b.On your predator a box should pop up reading “import ok.”
c.Click “close” on your predator and exit back to the main menu
d.If your tune file transferred successfully the main menu should now read “Custom Tune” (previously it read “Performance Tune”)
e.You’re finished! You may unplug your predator

Now you can upload the custom tune to your car, and enjoy the finer things in life!

Only problem I see (section3) is some will load at the 115200 baud rate also , depending on CROM verson they are using

One other item would help those unsure about the process: Did you restore your car to stock tune first?

Just making sure I have everything I need before my predator gets here. I ordered the usb to 9 pin adapter for my laptop. Do I need the ac adapter or whatever you were talking about? From what I can grasp, I will have my laptop in the car with me with the Predator connected to it. What powers the Pred, my pc or my car? Also, from what I understand Tom will e-mail me my first tune and I will have to load it onto the predator?

You can use a AC adaptor from 90% of laptops AC adaptors , thats what I use on mine anything 9 to 16 volts will run it or plug it into your OBDII port that powers it as well

You do realize, this has already been written up:
Predator Help

At any rate, maybe there is some newer information in your post subtleshift.
In that case, I'm moving this to the tuning chat forums, as this will benefit all users, not just SVT owners.
