Question SVT Thermostat *pin* HELP!

Hey guys, I've been a lurker a while and was looking for some help! I've got a black 02 SVT ZX3 with 134k miles.

I got a new coolant temp sensor but lost the pin that holds it down I promise, it's a goner... I took it for a short test drive and coolant temp picked up very nicely (opposed to staying at "0", like when gauges are off) and I knew I'd have to take it easy. Last 10 seconds of drive, coolant temp when down. I immediately parked and shut down as sweet coolant-smelling steam came up. I popped the hood and the damn sensor had launched itself out from the hole (why aren't these threaded into the housing??).

Anyways, the car is sitting until i can get this metal spring clip/pin. Any ideas what the part number is? If any of you have extras laying around, I'd be happy to buy one off you

Many thanks,

Nick

Try a salvage yard. If your lucky, they might not even charge you for such a small part.

Good point! Unfortunately I'm in University and don't have enough time to hunt it down.

If that's the case, walk into a parts store and ask them to find the part for you. It should take less than 5 minutes for them to find one (it's the same as basic Foci models) and hand it to you. If I knew the part number, I'd give it to you but unfortunately I don't.

I'll try and make it down tonight and see what they have in stock

Thank you!

I don't think the regular Zetec has sensors in the housing, but now you can go in a parts store armed with a number....Dorman 800-019

That cheesy clip was part of the reason why I jettisoned the stock housing for the Contour version a long time ago.
crapwacker and Turbo Donuts like this.
