Converting FROM HID's to standard Incandescent

I searched and found tons on converting to HID's, but nothing on converting from HID's to standard. I'd like to keep my OEM SVT EAP Lights in a box, and in the meanwhile, go with some ST170's. Is it just remove the lights and ballasts, and then plug and play?

If you have an EAP then ST170s are plug and play.

If you had the standard headlights then you would have to follow the Mach wring diagram to use ST170s

^^ This

Halogen bulbs don't take any ballasts or igniters to work unlike HIDs so it's as simple are tapping wires right into the headlight wiring harness. Or in your case, plugging the headlights right in (assuming you have left hand drive ST170's)

St170s are euro halogen headlights, but black housing. Eap HIDs are chrome housing US headlights.

ohhhhh ok I always thought ST170s were xenon. are these cheaper/easier to find than for example, the Mach HIDs or Hella Dynabeams? I'm just looking for the cheapest way to get a euro grill/lamp look going and I don't particularly care if they are halogen or HID.

No, being euro and st170 they are expensive and uncommon here. Best bet is chrome housing euro lights that came on alot of euro foci. Plentiful and relatively cheap.

The ST170s are gray, a really really dark gray that you can't distinguish from a pic, there's a guy floating around that gets real pedantic about that. Standard Euros came in black or chrome.

SVT lights are black and standard Foci came with the dark gray, or was it the other way around? I see Machs everyday.

My bad must have mixed that up with st170s vs euro.

Standard SVT lights are black versions of the non-svt mk1s which came in chrome and gray.

Machs will be the easiest to find since they where sold on the Mach edition sedans as well as all Euro package SVT's. Dynabeams are still rare because they are relatively new to the market and high priced (but worth every penny).

ST170 and other "facelift" euro headlights (same style just with chrome housings) are probably the most rare because any that are in the states had to be imported from Europe. It's also tricky getting them in LHD (Left Hand Drive) where they can be safely used in the States. RHD (Right Hand Drive) are shaped to aim the light heavily to the left side of the road (the ditch if your in England) which will blind oncoming traffic in left hand drive countries.
