First SVTF

Hello new friends, just picked up a 2002 SVTF from a used lot. Has 150k on it, from what I know the first 10 years the car was a corporate vehicle, one of the previous owners added projector lights and the saleen body kit.

Question the upper timing belt cover is missing, should i replace this (does it matter, live in az) and if so where can I locate one. Also maintenance should I perform right now to it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the forum

I moved your thread to the SVT general chat area since your not asking about performance parts.

If the timing belt hasn't been replaced that would be the first thing on my list.

Thank you for the help. I guess I will just replace the belt considering the dealer I'm buying it from does not know when it was last replaced. I'm going to do an oil change as well and was thinking of using RP any thoughts on that? Also any idea where I can find an upper timing belt cover.

I have no opinion on oil as I've used it all, just make sure you change it at a regular interval and you'll be just fine no matter what oil you use. As for the timing belt cover you can probably find one HERE in the Buy, Sale, Trade area of the forum.

Timing assembly = TOP PRIORITY

Motor Oil = Mobil 1 or Amsoil 5w30 or 10w30 change every 5000 miles unless you have the Amsoil bypass filter then you can change every 20,000 miles or once per year.

Trans fluid Royal Purple Maxx Gear 75-90 or Amsoil 75w-90

The Ford synthetic manual transmission fluid will work just fine as well. Like the oil the trans fluid is up to you on whatever you want to use.

He just needs to make sure any trans fluid he ends up using is GL-4
