Symptoms of bad bushings on the SVT and recommended fixes

Wanted to see what people thought:

04 SVT with 138K km's roughly.

The car overall sounds more noisy going over bumps and rough(ish) roads. On smooth roads I'm fine.

I hear knocking in front and some knocking around in back:

Front:
I checked my endlinks while the front end was raise and they still feel solid. I was told that my strut mounts may have separated rubber and now are clanging around.

Could it also be the bushings in the control arms??


Rear:
Getting some knocking noise but I don't know if it's the doors knocking around due to chassis flex, or the rear hatch (I know the rear hatch can get noisy).

Could it be the bushings in the control arms as well??


Unfortunately these little cars start to rattle after a few years being on stiff suspension. BUT, it still has a few years left in it, and I don't plan on picking up a monthly car payment, I need to fix this.

I'm not an expert on suspension or bushings by any means, and have no idea how to diagnose bad bushings on certain components of the suspension such as the sway bar, or the control arms. I have however always wanted to upgrade to all poly-u bushings, because people I know who have all said that the ride and handling are noticeable tighter.

I checked on google, and typed "what do bad bushings on a car feel like?". This is one of the answers that I got from just that question, perhaps it will help you understand if you are having bushing related issues.

yep they will be shot all my rears at 97,000 were ripped fronts were pretty much jacked/ dry rotted aswell..... go FULL POLY kit

At least I'm on the Pacific NW so we don't get the extreme temperatures and the salt and snow.

But yeah, I'm inclined to just replace the control arms completely and call it 'preventative maintenance'. I would go full poly kit but I don't have access to a press and it's not like I can somehow transport my control arms somewhere to get the bushings pressed in.

Local mechanics can press them in for you for a around 50-65 bucks.

And you can do it yourself ... but boy does it take time, patience and alot of strength to do it.

I've done it, and 3 c-clamps later and tons of cursing ... I got them in. lol.

Not doing that again. I did it myself only because my stock set was shot, I received my poly's in the mail, and didn't want to wait a couple of days to get a mechanic available for me to put these in. So, with a friend ... just did them.

Took me about an hour and a half to do it by hand for the front control arms.

poly's are not bad at all....out of the money you'll save on getting someone to install them for you go out and buy a bench vice and a propane torch....fire out the old rubber bushings(outside of course;) and press the poly's in with the vice. completely different car once they're all done...takes some time but WELL worth it.
