Worth looking into the details for that for the future, not sure how involved that is offhand.

May just need updated caliper brackets and the larger discs you'd be replacing anyways.

Stock wheels fit over that, just can't use 16" winter wheels over it - needs 17's min..

Required new calipers, as I think they and the brackets change. Not willing to spend the coin on them. If it was just the brackets I'd probably look into it, but it's only a 15 mm increase in size (335 versus 320), so might be negligible performance gain. The change was purely to be able to put lower dusting pads on the car and maintain performance. It wasn't done to fix any of the heating issues. The StopTechs being slotted should help with heat.

My Winters are 17's so that would not be a factor.

If that was the case of Ford upping the front brake size just to go w/ a low dust pad, you'd think w/ a more aggressive pad the bigger diameter rotors would hold up longer. There are a few performance pads that are ceramic you know. I use the Baer matrix pads which work great, needs a tad bit to warm up when really cold, is what I find. 2nd Baer kit I've used & works great.....

I don't have performance pads on my car at all. I'm all about the ceramics. But they are more expensive than non-ceramics so from an OEM perspective it was easier to get "lower" performance pads that had more surface area. Since they had less performance compound wise they produced less dust, but since that drop was offset by an increase in surface area the braking force didn't go down.

Brake dust was creating large amounts of TGWs (things gone wrong) which had to be fixed because TGWs mean unhappy customers. I've never heard of any heat issues in non-track driving, so I'm guessing that would be less of a concern (and I'd bet it never showed up in the TGWs).

Car is put back together! Everything seems fine.

Next time I change pads (in 20-25k, hopefully in 2 or 3 years) I'll be putting on new calipers. Looks like I'll get 2014 "red" rear ones, and PowerStop is going to sell a powder coated front set in red that is "performance" branded. Hopefully it has a higher heat tolerance.

Sounds great^^^^^^Remember to break in the pads/rotors= hammer on the brakes w/o stopping 5-6 times & then a 4-5 mile down the freeway to cool them off.
