On $400 to $525..
The comment on the new car being newer.. That alone can add a lot of cost to the insurance price. Nothing to do with your driving record.
The insurance companies go by what they might have to pay out

A car with a 'totaled' cost to them of $22,000 is going to cost the customer a lot more than a car insured with a 'totaled' value of only $12,000.
Major money and a big part of what they charge you to insure your car.

I pay a bucket of money 'extra' due to living in a 'bad' zipcode. No matter I have indoor parking with a dozen hi-def cameras.. ALL that matters is the zip code.
Annoys me too!

Check with your state laws, some states have buyer protection laws for this sort of thing. NYS is something like 72 hours or 300 miles.

If you can get out of the deal, you should. At your age you should be buying something a little older but it can still be a fun car, also buying a cheaper car with a lower payment and lower insurance means more money for go fast parts.

If not, lesson learned, your 21 and this decision is gonna follow you for a long time, you say you can swing the money which is great until a year or 2 from now when you want to move out of mom and dads and can't because of the car. Even if you make double payments, It's 2 1/2 years of almost all your money going towards a car.

Insurance drops in a big way for 2 reasons, when you turn 25, and when you get married. Get a cheap car and when you reach those marks go find something fun.

Ofcourse my luck(which is 100% of the time HORRIBLE no matter how much good I do)
I get stuck paying 4000-4500 a year. (10 payments)

My parents have a big house so I'm renting out the basement. We are Italian so it's more tradition to that anyways call it lame if you want, let's be honest it's the more smarter thing to do. So there's that the phone, which is all I have to pay besides the car. So I get left with around $800 a month for random shit, food, gas, savings. So I guess it's not HORRIBLE. Hopefully I get a second or better paying job between these payments and it would be a breeze from there after.

Just a lesson to everyone . I was naive and sped around too much getting stupid tickets for not even much over the limit and have to pay now. Just gotta focus on driving responsibly with this new car
No offense but you still sound pretty naive if you're looking at spending 100% of your money earned on a car payment and insurance while living with your parents.

I agreed, but threatened to dis-own him from my will if he ****** up my credit.

My PROTIP is I think you need to wait and find a better deal OR wait till your tickets drop off before you go looking for a new car.

I'm sure your Dad will agree.

BTW I have 3 boys 25, 23, and 19.
well it was the other way around... my father AHRRRM signed me as co signer without me signing anything to buy a car xD.. he paid it off tho by getting a cheaper rate through another loan to pay off the one with my name..

and before anyone says i should be mad, I'm not i know he means well he was an old fart and was like me wanted nice cars and he always took the beaters..
=( may he rest in peace

It would only be 1/4 income but still. Anyways update is I couldn't get the car after signing for it. Retarded dealership almost let me drive the car home and said it was final but two days later the bank told me and then that I wasn't approved. Because being this young and having two car loans was to much for them to trust even though my credit score is very high. But that's understandable. I now am paying the SE off now, selling it to my dad whose gunna give it to my sister , use that 7-8000. For a nice downlayment on an ST when my sister gets her license this summer, then have a decent monthly rate.

Still can't decide between ST, or STI, or any other obvious tuner cars of that nature. But 95% of YouTube videos about races involving an st, it always wins somehow. All the car racing videos with the ST and cars of its category , it always pulls ahead even if horsepower is much more stock than it. Strange kinda.

I have to ask... What are you doing for a living that $1000 is a 1/4 of your monthly income(cash - post taxes) at 20 years old?

I got two jobs at big high benefit hospitals.
And I'd say 1000 is more like 1/3 not 1/4 my bad.
