2013-14 differences over the 15+

People are saying the ST body's are different but I don't see it.
Apparently the rear end between the older and newer STs is slightly different but what is it exactly? Looks exactly the same bumper and everything.

I love both front ends but not sure which is cooler. They're both aggressive and both look beautiful so nobody should hate on that.

Am I better off going for a brand new 2016 ST3 for $22k

Or a used 2013 ST with low miles for 16k?

Hardest decision tbh. I am also coming from a 2013 Ford flcus SE which I love but there's too many issues with it and it's becoming annoying lately.

What's a full warranty and three years newer worth to you?

That's the largest difference.

Otherwise they're different in detail in many ways, outside & inside. Definitely not identical in appearance at either end, front being much more obvious.

I just bought a new 16 ST, got it for about $25.5K out the door including interest and a 7 year Ford factory bumper to bumper warranty. They had a used 14 with 40K miles for $18K sticker. Up to you, but I never particularly liked the used ST market prices. You might want to wait till next year. Anybody know when a new ST will come out?

Hardest decision tbh. I am also coming from a 2013 Ford flcus SE which I love but there's too many issues with it and it's becoming annoying lately.

I asked the same question not long ago.

2015+ models have revised front suspension, larger brakes came in 2014.5+ model years. 2015+ also got the flat bottomed steering wheel, faster 1A charging for the USB ports, different (less busy) interior and the front fascia, which you already mentioned, is different too.

That said. I went with a 10k mile 2013 TS - ST-3 which was a steal ($17k) a month ago. I got a great deal on it, didn't feel the need for the warranty as it'd gone through the early years relatively unscathed and it's more than enough car for me at the moment.

The color isn't exactly what I wanted but it's been growing on me.

As another responder said, if warranty is important to you, get the new one. Otherwise, save some $ and enjoy a lightly used ST.

The used ST market is hard when it comes to buying from private sellers but much easier when buying from a non-Ford dealership.

I got mine at a BMW dealership, so go figure.

Exact changes on the exterior between 2013-2014 ST and 2012-2014 non-ST are:

2013 - 2014 ST has unique front fascia, lower side valances (under doors), and lower rear valance (including exhaust cutout), ST3 models also have unique headlamps (versus other US model Foci).

2015 - current ST has similar differences versus non-ST cars with the exception of headlamps which are identical on all trim levels (at least in looks, not function as some have Xeon bulbs)

Differences between 2013-2014 and 2015+ ST's are the front fascia (whole thing including fog lamps), hood (this is also a change for non-ST's) , headlamps (same as hood change also a non-ST change), tail lamps (they are smaller, again a non-ST change as well), hatch (cut lines are different, also in that group of non-ST changes), and rear lower valance. Particularly the rear lower valance is uglier on the 2015+.

Price being no object, I'd obviously say go for the one that you'll always know the history on. Used cars can always hide secrets no matter how nice it is during the test drive. But is that peace of mind worth 6k to you is the real question?

Otherwise they're so close to the same visually that the average guy driving by will have no idea which one you're driving.
