I spent about 3 months looking at cars. The private party values seem to be trending higher than dealer values for used STs, so I spent more time looking at dealer pricing.

The best value used STs out there are in non-Ford dealerships where people trade in their cars. I got my ST-3 at private party value and the car is practically new based on usage and the few blemishes.

I originally thought that the '15 STs would drop in value but due to the mid cycle refresh, it turned out that the 13-14 STs were the massive bargain.

You should be able to find many, many cars with 20k miles or less on the odo, though my 10k miles find was a gem. Obviously, I didn't get the color I wanted (Oxford White) but Tangerine Scream is growing on me.

Check out:
cars.com
autotrader.com
cargurus.com
truecar.com
craigslist.org

Don't be afraid to travel to pick up a bargain, set up search radius at 500 miles.

(I wrote this post assuming you're going for a used ST, though - in reality, the above sites are good for new cars too).

Like you said it prob chip/tune related. In that case those having issues might want to try one heat range colder for plugs.

Calipers/rotors up front, and can't go to as small a Winter wheel if desired - prob. wouldn't affect you.

Not a huge difference in size between the versions.

More of an aid for track use, they tear up brakes with the active traction control added to the braking use.

Apparently the difference in rotor size was due to brake dust. They used the same pads for '14 cars to reduce the brake dust. However, as Sailor says, the braking surface will make more of a difference for tracking, if you're using track pads.

I actually didn't realize that there was this difference - you'll want a '14.5 model year in order to get the larger front brakes.

As my '13 stock brakes go, they're pretty grabby on the street - the modulation needs to be deliberate and to an extent, I feel a little miffed, but not enough to regret getting the '13.
