So I found another 2015. Looks like its gonna be around 21ish after TTT and having it shipped to me. 9k miles. No sunroof though :(.

it does have the vinyl striping though which I HATE...

is it worth it to get it any? how easy is this to remove and it not look like it was ever there?

IME, it is all about confidence when buying a car, especially a used one. Dealers try and say they aren't making a profit or whatever game they want to play, but we all know they make money or they wouldn't be in business. They make more on used cars than new. They make more on new cars with maintenance and warranty work...

Anyway, I have bought and sold roughly 15 cars in the last 6 years (new and used). Yes, that is a lot, but I get bored quickly and like to try new things...these cars have ranged from Porsche, Corvette, BMW's, Audi, some trucks, my ST, etc, etc.

I will use my 2013 ST-2 (19k miles)I just bought 2 weeks ago as an example. I try to find out as much as I possibly could about the car..through carfax, talking to the salesperson...etc. I always ask if the car was a local trade or they bought it at auction. I try to stay away from auction cars...the dealer knows nothing at all about the car other than they got a good deal on it! Luckily, the salesperson put me in contact with the original owner. I talked to him on the phone...I asked him why he traded it in etc. He didn't seem like a car guy, but a nice guy and he had a handwritten book where he wrote down oil changes, tire rotations, and swaps to winter tires. That book was in the car (the salesperson had already told me about it). He said it was garaged the entire time he owned it also. So I felt the car was taken care of...Great stroke of luck being able to talk to him...not many times that happens.

Anyway, IME, when a person trades in a car they get ripped off 98% of the time...they either pay too much for their new car or they don't get anything for their trade or both. When looking at a used car that was traded, it typically has a 20% markup from what they paid in trade. Asking price was $17900. I had my number in mind I wouldn't go over...which was $16000. With that in mind, I told the salesperson this..."I figure you have a 20% markup on the ST, which means you paid roughly $14320 for it in trade. I want you guys to make a fair profit, so I am offering you $15000 for the car." He came back and said they could do $15900, so I knew I was on the right track and already under my own number. I went back and said, "I will meet you in the middle at $15450...he said I already gave you a good deal. I laughed and said...fair enough...I will do $15750. He said deal! So out the door TTT I was under $17000. I had been talking to the salesperson for 3-4 days prior to making the offer on the phone and via text.

Remember--If they come off on the price of the car quickly without much pressure and say that is the best we can do...they will and can come off more. They wouldn't throw out their best deal and say take it or leave it.

Moral of the long drawn out story...it is a car. Don't get caught up in the emotion of buying it. It is not personal, either you buy one or you don't. There are others out there. I always laugh at salespeople when they say, I can't guarantee it will be here tomorrow...I always say that's OK, then it wasn't meant to be. I also NEVER negotiate at the dealership. When you are at the dealer, you are uneasy and are feeling pressured and getting pressured to take the deal they are offering right now! I either do it on the phone or via text...after I have either been in to the dealership or talked to them on the phone and they know I am serious and am ready to buy a car if the price is right.

Be diligent in your homework on the car and I always want to know more about the car model more than the salesperson. Hope that helps someone and good luck buying your car.

Looks like a well taken care of car w/ some taste full mods. IDK why you wouldn't buy from a individual vs a dealer?

only what you`ll find on carfax cars or by calling the dealer ,but they will tell you the internet price is their best price , but wont loose a sale by not doing a deal ,
bojangles are you looking specifically for a st3 or a particular color or just the best deal & and are you set on a 14 or a 15 , there is a silver 2014 st3 at sunstate ford orlando for 20k and it only has 187 miles on it ,
iam still a little on the fence but if i do iam kinda leaning to a 2015 st3 (hate the rear bumper though)in either Tangerine scream, Performance blue ,or Magnetic grey, cant believe the 14s never had back up cameras,

really want a 15 anyway..
but at least with a dealer theres some sort of accountability. Buying used from someone you dont know what theyre doing to it the last day they have it. and once you get it thats it. no complaining about something being different and possibly getting more money off

I can see wanting a Dealer warranty on top of whatever Ford warranty exists - IF they offer one.

But when did you ever get money back AFTER a deal is complete?
