Other issues with a 'hot sport hatch' in the used area...
The abuse from the first owner. You really do not know...

The one way to alleviate that is buy from a Ford dealer with the
Ford Certified Preowed".
At least one (lucky) used ST buyer did get a new engine free when his died because he had the Ford Certified Used warranty.

If you buy a used ST from a private party.. IMO that is asking for trouble.

As far as the tradeoff of new $$$$ but lower interest. or used $$ but higher..
Well the high interest is an incentive to pay it off early!!

I do not think any changes matter from 14 to 15/16.
The main addition is the backup camera... And yes the chassis is slightly stiffer.

I own a 14 and can say the chassis is stiff as Hell. LOL

you can also buy a used one from a private owner that still has a warranty, instead of paying a markup on a used car from a dealer, private sometimes can save you alot more money in these instances...

Variable ratio steering is gone for 2016.

The problem with that is did the owner have mods?
A tune is going to be able to be found, (if Ford looks hard) even if taken out.
So the so called warranty may not be any good.

I have a question guys, hope I get some input. I want to do my own oil changes, same as I did with my 1999 Volvo V 70, 2004 V 70 R and my last one was a 2008 Acura TL Type S I always used either Ansoil, Motul or Royal Purple. My question is if I do my change and use Royal Purple I will loose my warranty or not. And by the way I dont even hit 1K yet. Reason for that is I hear some fishy stuff about the Service department of the dealer I bought my new car. Sales is great, but service no too good. Thanks I hope hear from you guys soon...

not everyone that has owned a st has it tuned or even modded.
some actually wait until the warranty is up before doing so, i do understand your point, it is a gamble, however it is an alternative, dealer pricing is not always the best and every car you buy from the dealers (used) does not mean it was never modded either, so again you are taking a chance there as well..
Someone on focusst is already having that problem as well, bought a car from the dealer, did not know it had a aftermarket bov on it, dealer never said anything about it, now he is facing getting it fixed out of his own pocket because the dealer wont cover it, the bov was installed wrong and has caused alot of issues with the car...
Just because you buy from a dealer does not always mean its the right choice either, you still are taking the chance....

To jump back to the Oil Change question, the RP oils on the whole do NOT meet factory spec. so it IS possible to have warranty denied for using them.

IDK if they offer anything that does meet spec., their additive package (even if most consider it better) doesn't meet EPA rules so it won't match the stock requirements.

Fine point, but if they have any reason to want to deny coverage that's a solid reason to deny that can't be argued.
