Slo86GT - this is nuts, and personal attacks aren't tolerated.

If nothing else (and I could pick MANY more nits), you just recommended an oil change procedure & oil types that would LOSE warranty protection.

This isn't a small consideration, look in MkIII Problems for one member who's facing paying for an engine for lack of proof that oil changes were done at the min. 1 yr/10k mile intervals with proper recommended oil/filter. (less miles if the monitor requests, but that's the minimum)

Unless you give me a compelling argument about something I missed by PM, posts will be edited/eliminated to leave your "reasoned" opinion (argument) alone. That falls into typical "oil thread" discussion, even if there's MUCH disagreement on your points.

Slo86GT - I left most of your posts alone, after not hearing from you. Removed only a couple rude comments, no excuse for being intentionally rude & saying so.

If you thought a little more as you read, you might catch and appreciate the dry humor in some of the posts you dislike so much.

It also helps to put things more in context, give it a try even though you weren't around in the era of older cars that was referenced. It's pretty hard to do extended oil changes with synthetics & oil testing when that oil/testing wasn't even avail. yet.

Synthetic oil avail. to the public is relatively new still, despite some development/use dating back to WWII. Inexpensive oil testing is MUCH newer, not readily avail. until quite recently (not that it was impossible, just not common).

IDK what heavier & lighter types you'd recommend over the factory recommendation for Winter/Summer, current engines work VERY well on the recommended weights in any normal operation.

YES I know the issues from TOO frequent changes, but those weren't even mentioned. Wearing out drain bolt threads or plastic undercover fasteners? Really?
