Old thread i know but only found this thread from reading up on induction kits.

That part should be for the 1.6 turbo ecoboost unit the european market got.

Its for the crankcase breather pipe

This is pretty ridiculous I agree...what happens long term to engine if he wasnt curious enough to notice it on his own....think the tech is going to tell customer a wrong part was installed? They will swap it out and try and cover it up.

My dealer gave me my car back with the MAF unplugged with "ENGINE MALFUNCTION ERROR" on the screen, flashing CEL and smiled when he handed the keys back

I dont even think they will take notice of what car you gave them

I know, old thread, just adding more info.

The OP's intake tube was taken from an Escape 2.0L.

Note the straight out nipple that started this whole dialog, and metal on the tube itself.





That being said, it makes me wonder if your entire engine was sourced from the Escape? Have you compared VIN tag of the car vs engine serial number on the engine to verify?
