Auto-dimming rear view mirror

Has anyone replaced the stock interior rear view mirror with an auto-dimming one? If so, where did you get the new mirror? There's several on Amazon, but I don't see anything to tell me if they would mount on the existing windshield block.

Tint the rear view window/ all the windows, eliminate most of the need for an autodimming mirror without electronics.

Sure hope the stock auto mirror in the Focus Ti works as well as the one in my 2010 Fusion does !

Stopped by a salvage yard today, and they sold me an auto-dimming rear view mirror from a Mercury Mountaineer. $5, and it has the exact same mount as my ST's manual mirror. I hooked it up to 12 volts on my work bench, and the mirror's little green light turned on and off with its on/off switch, so hopefully it works. It's now mounted in my ST, and all I have to do is route the wires into the headliner, and see if I can hook them up to something appropriate in there, like the power to the moonroof. The only thing giving me pause is that the "new" mirror has three wires...one ground and two 12v+. Not sure why it needs two different power-in leads...I would assume it needs to be fully powered all the time, since it has light sensors to tell it when to activate.

But isn't that the only input it needs? I mean, I don't want it on when the car is turned off and parked, but it needs to be on whenever I'm driving it, so any switched power line should work. But why two power inputs? I suppose it could have a switched power line so that it only turns on with the headlights, but even that seems unnecessary since it has a light sensor to turn itself on when the sun goes down.

Ah, I found that the third wire was to be hooked up to the backup lights, so the autodimming would disable while in reverse. Not something I'm interested in, so I got rid of it. I wired the other two wires to the moonroof power, and it works great! Wonderful deal for $5. The only bad thing is that three members of my immediate family have '13 Focus Titaniums, and now they all want the same thing. :-(
