The latest version of the Ford Focus ST has won plenty of fans worldwide with its sharp dynamics and 246bhp, 2.0-litre, direct injection turbocharged Ecoboost engine. But as with any hot hatchback, there are always owners who want more performance than the factory can offer.

Which is where leading performance ECU remap specialist Superchips Ltd excels, having enjoyed a long history of enhancing the power of turbocharged Fords since the original Series 1 Escort RS Turbo, back in 1986. And its latest product – a Superchips ECU remap for the newest, 154mph Mk3 Focus ST 2.0T – is set to right a new chapter of success with upgrading Ford products for the enthusiast market.

Thanks to an extensive combination of chassis dyno and road testing, Superchips’ technicians have developed a performance remap for the 2.0-litre turbocharged Focus ST’s ECU, which optimises boost levels, fuelling and ignition timing on the 246bhp direct injection Ecoboost engine. The end result is a Superchips conversion that increases power output, improves response and enhances refinement whilst retaining factory failsafe protocols and reliability levels.

In-house dyno testing has proven that the Superchips ECU remap for the Focus ST produces an impressive additional 51bhp at 4046rpm, with a peak power gain of 31bhp at 5655rpm, emphasising the progressive nature of the additional performance.

But peak power is only part of the story, because the Superchips ECU remap realises noticeable increases in torque output from 2000 to 5000rpm, culminating in an remarkable gain of 93Nm at just 3954rpm (with a peak torque increase of 69Nm at 3770rpm) highlighting the user-friendly nature of the conversion.

Modifications to the ST’s drive by wire throttle settings enable Superchips to enhance pedal response, which in combination with the added torque on tap, makes the Focus feel considerably livelier to drive.

And it’s behind the wheel that owners will notice the real benefits of the Superchips upgrade. The Focus ST instantly becomes keener, more willing and more rewarding to drive, delivering electrifying performance, with ample power for overtaking, fast road, trackday or everyday enjoyment. Despite the elevated power levels if the Superchips enhanced Ford is driven in a ‘like for like’ manner then standard fuel economy levels will be retained.

And this extra performance is available to Focus ST drivers on Superchips’ market leading Bluefin programming handset. No mechanical or technical skills are required, because Bluefin allows for quick and easy DIY uploading of the Superchips ECU remap onto the Focus in a matter of minutes. As part of this process, the Superchips Bluefin handset also stores the cars original ECU map, enabling the owner to reload the standard map at any time. Alternatively, customers can visit one of approximately 80 Superchips performance centres, where trained technicians can undertake the ECU remap installation procedure.

On sale now, the Superchips ECU remap suits both five door hatchback and estate variants of the May 2012 onwards 246bhp Focus ST 2.0-T, priced at £455.00 inclusive of VAT and installation (if required.)

“The Superchips ECU remap for the previous version of the Focus ST remains one of our top selling products,” says Superchips’ MD Ian Sandford, “so we’re delighted that the latest variant of the car produces such strong results and is also Bluefin compatible as we anticipate strong demand from Ford owners.”

Customers can be assured the Superchips Focus ST 2.0T ECU remap is covered by a full Customer Service Guarantee and an industry-leading 12 month / 30,000 supplementary vehicle warranty.*
