Turbo: PCV and Valve Cover Breather tube-

Hey when you guys did your turbos, what did you do with the PVC? I figure its not still hooked up. I have mine in place with a peice of rubber hose that goes towards the bottom of the car. I realized the that nothing forces the PCV to "open" but then again putting boost to it cant be good either. So, should it dump or what?

The hose coming off the valve cover, I just have another rubber hose that runs under the car (points at the ground). When the motor is warm and running, it constantly lets out a steamy smoke. Is that how you have it? Do you get the smoke too? It seems so much more frequent now...I never really noticed it til just recently.

Also, my valve cover gasket needs changing again, and I am havingmy valve seals done on the 14th...so those two issues will be dealt with...

Im just sick of the oil burning smell and the spy hunter smoke screens at WOT.

Let me know about the PCV and Valve Cover tube....just wanna make sure its done right..

Yes there vented out like you mentioned

Why are you changing valve seals?

You may want to do a compression test and leakdown test

It was smoking at WOT before the turbo too so I was supposed to do them, and never did. I just dont know if its the valve cover leak, or just the valve seals, etc.

I am going to do a compression test in a few minutes, so I'll give you the results. How do you do a leakdown test?

Valve seals will usually cause smoke(out the exhaust) when the engine goes into vacuum or if it sits overnight. If you are talking about smoke out of the breather tube..that is increased crankcase pressure caused by blow by. Good luck with it.

Heh, 60psi in 3 and 4, didn't bother with 1 and 2.

Crazymechanic is going to do some rings for me so I can get by til I buy Toms short block. I figure since we have to pull the head, I'll do the vct delete, SCI headgasket and new gaskets all around.

I cant wait for Toms short block though!!! 300whp here I come!!!

My 3 and 4 did the same with my SC. The valve cover hose POURED stuff out under boost, even at idle.
