Vortech question

I found a guy selling a full Vortech s/c kit that has never been installed , but it's at least a year old. Would it's age being a year old have any effect on the seals and whatnot?

I can get it for a very good deal ($3000), and I'd get it tuned by you - I'm just having doubts about the reliability due to it's age.

What do you recommend?

The other two options I have been considering were spending more $ and getting a Powerworks kit or going with the Xios turbo SVT turbo kit.

Dont let age worry you that wont be an issue , The Vortech is hard to install keep that in mind

I dont like the pw because it isnt very upgradeable and all the tune issues they have had

The xios has the turbo placed to the bottom back side of the engine and also will be very limited as to what it will be able to do

The PC kit will respond much like the Vortech kit and with the new larger C2 unit Avb. i think will have the potental to make big numbers and allow for upgradeability granted where the IC is located isnt hitting on much

A lot of the issues with all the above can be addressed but upgradeability (more boost) is one that cannot once you get to a limit your through so you need to come up with a number (HP) you can live with and see if that choise can be filled with the kit your looking at

I may be misunderstanding what you mean by "the bottom back side of the engine," but the SVT XIOS kit replaces the stock exhaust manifold with an equal length tubular style manifold and the turbo - leaving the stock cat in the same place AFAIK. Not so different from most other kits, really.

When you say the back side, I picture the firewall side of the engine, and it's on the other side, by the fans. Maybe we're saying the same thing LOL

Math according to Xios and FocusSport: (1 snailpower*6.8psi)/1 wheel = 235whp/209wtq
