Aluminum Battery Holder?

Tom, do you still have your Odyssey aluminum battery holder for sale? If so, is there any way I could get one powdercoated or painted gloss black to match my engine bay? If not, I am still interested in buying one of the boxes in about a month or so. Thanks, Nate.

PC680. You can get the standard, the MJ (metal jacket) or MJT (metal jacket with auto terminals). Ebay has the MJT for around 70-90 bucks or the others for even cheaper if you can find your own terminals and don't care about the battery being protected by metal. Nate.

why would you say 'dont care about the battery being protected by metal.'? isn't that a good thing?

any idea how long the reserve power is? would prolly puy a yellow top of something similar in trunk for system if/when i ever get one tho.

and is that CCA @ 0C enough for a boosted focus (220a @ 0C)

P680 battery search

I bought mine from Motobatteries and have no complaints.

The reserve is only like 25 minutes. This is a start and go battery, certainly not the choice for sitting in your car listening to tunes for any length of time.

Best place on Ebay I found was odyssey_world. They specialize in Odyssey batteries. Here are some Ebay #'s for the various pc680 models 4612635828 (pc680MJ) $70, 4612425183 (pc680) $68, and 8038980753 (pc680MJT) $90. It looks like the MJT would be better for underhood applications.

Specs:

Length 7 in.
Width 3 1/16 in.
Height 6 5/8 in.
Drycell Battery
With or Without Metal Jacket
12 Volt
16 Ah @ 10hr rate
220 CCA
680 Cranking Amps for 5 Seconds
24 Minute Reserve Capacity
Cycle life @ 77F 400 at 100% DOD
-40F to 140F Temperature Range

From what I have read from other FF and FJ posters, these batteries are more than sufficient even in cold weather. They may not power a large stereo system but for a stock system and lights, etc. they are great. Plus you can shave 20 lbs off the front end of your car and clean up your engine bay. I hope I have answered any questions people have. If not, I would call Odyssey and get the low down from them.

Tom, how much are your battery boxes again? Thanks, Nate.

more curious why one would go with the PC680 or PC680MJ over the PC680MJT. Wouldn't u want the metal jacket? And the terminals are kinda a no brainer isn't it?

The battery that came stock in my SVTF has a plastic case. Optima batteries are plastic. I think the metal case is for that extra piece of mind. I also think you could buy the MJ model cheaper on Ebay and then find the terminals elsewhere. If I were to trunk mount the battery in a box, I would probably go with the plain model. However, I plan to purchase the MJT model for underhood mounting and if I every move it to the trunk, I will be extra safe. In my first and second post, I was merely spelling out all the options available. Nate.
