Tom: svt vs 2.3L

so here's my question, i see everyone jumping onto the 2.3L bandwagon...but i wonder, why do such a thing if you already have a svt engine...basically with your full kit and engine internals it'll be cheaper to hit like 300-350whp than it would be for a 2.3L and wouldn't it be just as fast with either engine since weight and everything is pretty much the same. Sure i'd assume the 2.3L might have more room to go past 500whp??? but then that takes it away from the whole daily driver doesn't it?

P.S. what type of HP/TQ #'s would be needed to run 12's/11's? (very curious)

The Duratec engines is a much more efficient engine and being so will make HP/TQ easiers , Now saying that 300HP is 300HP and i wouldnt run out and change cars just to go to the Dura engine and the SVT is a much better Focus than any other Focus that has ever been on the market

To run in the 12`s im guessing 320HP to run in the 11`s im guessing 375-400 but thats on DOT tires and full car weight

The thing is, the Duratec is a much better engine design, overall, than the Zetec. Also, the Zetec is out of production and the Duratec is slated to be Ford's "World Engine" and be standard fare in a variety of cars and platforms (think Mazda's too) for many a moon to come.

With that in mind, modder companies are rightly turning to the Dura for the future of Focus performance.

I don't like how the duratec has the header in the rear.

Now, heres just a question is that for OUR cars or a rough guess for most cars. As evos/stis/srt4's all have what 220-230 whp? And run high 12's low 13's.

Bone stock srt-4 ran a 13.2 track on street tires at the local track and he still had temp tags.

They are alot faster than the dealer states. And i have seen the ugraded one run high 12's bone stock.

doubt it was stock, probably bought it with the stage 1 upgrade...by the way, "upgraded" ones aren't stock, they're upgraded
