svt pistons how much boost?

how much boost can the svt pistons and rods take? i have a chance to get rods and pistons for pretty cheap. will they work well in my stock zetec block? with a fr head with crower springs and ti retainers? let me know thanks

so max is 19 psi? i need to know pretty exact, cause if i cant get like 20-25 psi im just gonna have to wait a lil longer and get forged diamond pistons and eagle rods

the pistons and rods will definitely handle more than 19 psi, the problem is the compression. the svt pistons will raise your compression to approximately 10.2:1, instead of the standard zetec's 9.6:1. keep in mind, you'll want to get your rotating assembly rebalanced if you switch those out. you can also run a thicker head gasket to lower the compression, or use the factory zetec pistons but use the SVT rods. that'll give you the lower compression of the standard motor, but the strength to handle the added boost.

Dont waste your time or money do it right the first time and get at least the eagle rods and some good forged pistons

Yes the SVT rods are much stronger than the Zetec rods but if you are going through all the trouble to do rods and pistons then to it right with good stuff

ok i was just judging to see how they were. prolly go with the forged. the pistons are only 150 for rods and pistons thats why i asked its practically a steal.

For the record we (me and Tom) have seen over 22psi on my rods and pistons.

How safe was it.... dont know... but they did hold.

Like Tom says, go ahead and do it right and get the good stuff
