Question What do you think?????

Yesterday I was heading home and I pull out into traffic, ease through 1st and 2nd and start to get into boost in 3rd. The tires spin alittle... it was rainy.... so I let off the gas then slowly get back on it and the car jerks for a second then smooths out. I thought it may have been TC and the quaife not getting along.

I get a few miles down the road and I pull out to pass (it was dry there) and around 5k it does it again, so I ease off the gas and drive a few more miles.

When I get close to home I decide to get into it to see if I can make it do it again, of course I'm close enough to walk by now, at 5k and 17-19psi it does it again BUT the J&S is showing nothing. I can tell its definitly some kind of miss, I've seen my friends SC'd 5.0 do the same thing.

While testing it I decided to keep my foot in it to see how its going to react, well it does the miss/jerk at 5k then again around 5.5-6k then it smooths out and revs like normal.

I get alittle closer to home and do it one more time, this time it doesn't do it at all.... and I hit 7k in 3rd and 4 or 5k in 4th both at 19psi and the J&S showed no sign of knock or retard. Of course when I did it I went flying past the house so I go up the road, turn around, and crank it up one last time..... still no misfire/missing.

Do you think it may have been a plug trying to foul out?? The plugs have been in about a month, I haven't fooled with it today... its rainy and cold and I'm still getting over the creeping crud.

So what you think??

John

If it was raining hard you may of sucked up some water that got to the MAF , 1 spoon full will kill the MAF from working properly till it dries , If you hadent said it was raining i would say plugs , But im guessing moisture

Yeah its been raining here and my car experiences the same problems. Even when I wash my car it will do the same thing the first 3-4 times I get into the boost.

If it ever warms up outside today I'll go out and mess with it....50*F and rainy

It had been raining, but mostly like a light shower and it wasn't enough to puddle on the road.

Oh well, I'll figure it out sometime today, besides I have 2 sets of spare plugs just incase

EDIT: it didnt do it at lower boost levels, only after I got past 15psi or so.......

Well, took it out today.... no problems.

Maybe it was water, I just dont see how it could have made it that far without evaporating.

what are you plugs gapped at it could be that you are getting spark blow out with that much boost.

I can't remember exactly but its either .030 or .035

I've ran the car for MONTHS with out this happening, and yes I also change the plugs about a month ago. It could have been moisture, either in the MAF or even around the plugs.... vented hood.

But its went away as fast as it occured.

UMMMM you really shouldnt have a problem with water in the TPS. The turbo would have NO effect on this anyway. The TPS is a completley sealed unit, I think you may have another problem.

It's sealed on the outside, but not from the inside. When we hooked up the Meth/inj, in the intake ahead of the TB, the boost psi forced the mixture into the reostat area of the TPS causing deviations in signals.

Orange --Ditto on the shudder thing, once in a blue moon, while cruising I'd guess 4.5/5 K and I would begin to roll into the throttle the engine would shudder and buck only briefly. I let off and roll into it again and it's ok.
