What time table is reasonable for an install?

I will be going turbo. I've been laying out out my time table and finances. I wondered about the install and what to expect. My plan will be to travel to focus power and have Tom install and tune the car. I was wondering how long the install and tune would take. I would also be driving 1600 miles to have this work done. How risky would it be to turn about and drive 1600 on a freshly installed turbo? Is there a break in period I would need to heed? Should I plan to stay in town an extra week just to drive the car around before going home? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

well on toms site he wants 650 for install and tune. i think that is reasonable.

i dont think there is a break in time tho, only because when they tune your car they are constatly flooring it.

So you don't think it's unreasonable to turn around and drive home 1600 miles on a turbo system that's only been installed 2 or 3 days?

im sure tom knows what hes doing, i think you will be fine if you chose to take it to northcarolina

i wont drive that far cause i hate driving that long, i dont mind driving for 2-3 hours but thats a bit to far for my likings.

if you can handle the road trip do it, if not find a closer spot. my turbo shop is about 15 minute drive so that is definatly doable.

Havae you upgraded your transmission though? I see you've listed it as an automatic. Without it being upgraded it will not handle that much power very long.

Lantech or something has good auto trans beef up kits. focus-power.com has a link on the bottom for the trans stuff if i can recall correctly.

Yea, I've already got the money set aside for the tranny. I'm just waiting till I'm closer to having the turbo on the car before replacing it. Thank you for all the advise all.

IF all goes well plan on 3-4 days but set aside the entire week + . Tom's always got 2-3 things going on at once. It's not risky at all driving a freshly installed turbo...except for the speeding tickets. most of the breakin would be if you have pistons/rings installed. The car will be prettymuch "put thru it's paces" by the time you'reready to leave, hope your ATX holds up for the testing phase.

My Lentec will already be in the car by the time the turbo is installed. I have faith she'll hold.
