Question For Tom

i am planning on boosting my svt soon but im unsure about long term damage to my motor with diff. kits..ive heard the jr sc is good for 100,000 miles which is great but i want more power.i also heard if you run turbo to be ready to rebuild your engine at 75,000 miles.my question is which kit including vortech,jr,toms, etc. would you recommend if i want my car to be good for 75,000 plus miles.i mean if im gonna void my warranty it needs to be worth it ya know. thanks
mike

although im not Tom, ill throw in some insight until tom comes along....

Its not about the Turbo degrading your engine life, its about how you drive your car as well...the thing is when you have a turbo you'll tend to have a heavier foot and shift at higher RPMs etc etc...therefore causing engine life wear. If you baby the car and only beat on it once in a way (for instance shifting low RPMs, light foot on throttle etc) then im sure the engine will last longer. Of course the FI will shorten the lifespan no doubt about that but its more mainly how you drive the car not whats in the car.

I like turbos , I have a SVO that has many mads done over the years and it has 123,000 miles on the still origional stock engine and makes 278HP and 286tq at the wheels and has for a long time

Will a SC last longer than a turbo NO not if you do apples to apples in HP and the way it is used ,The SC wont make as much power so naturally this is less wear and tear on the engine

Make the SC and the turbo do the same power and what ever issues come up one one would of come up on the other

Tom

OEM Reliability with Eatons (JRSC). And you can always up the boost with an upper pulley...I plan on running 12-14psi out of my JRSC...nice linear power band!

I do love turbos, and no, it doesnt kill your engine quicker. With a set up like Toms, you can go for a long time! Tom makes a high-quality kit with a lot of attention to detail. If you go turbo, Tom is your guy - if you go SC, JRSC for installation ease and no maint. required other than OEM routine.

^^^^ Amen to that you forgot buy a new clutch, but that is really about it.. Mildly built turbo's are just that FUN...Yeah if you want 400 HP there are issues , but for as much as the stock focus front tires can handle, they can be VERY reliable and fun
