Supercharger or turbo?

I have a 2004 Saleen focus and looking for the overall better choice, all things considered such as, price for the kit, price to have it installed (or install myself if it isn't crazy hard), more horsepower and torque gained, better sounding, more liable (less likely to blow up). Just all the pros and cons of both

Turbo would be the way to go. Seriously doubtful you'll find anyone on the forum that will say supercharger. The gains/cost just isn't there.

I've heard about a lot of problems with turbos blowing up, and way more expensive to buy, and way more difficult to install. Nvr had a turbo in any of cars, have supercharged a mustang once tho and loved it

If it's done right it will provide years of service and great power, not to mention fuel economy if you can keep your foot out of it. I can't even remember the last time someone blew up there car from a turbo on here. It's all in the tuning surely Tom will jump in on this since it's in his area. He would be the one to talk to about it.

Superchargers just dont make huge gains on 4cyl cars. Also, most zetec superchargers do not have any sort of cooling, so they generate alot of heat.

A properly installed and tuned turbo should be reliable and provide better performance.

if your keeping the stock internals either will make enough power to max it out (other then JRSC). comes down to what deals you find, i got my procharger, fmic, all the piping, mafia, injectors.. ect and tuning the running total on everything is about $2100

if for around the same price i could get a decent turbo and keep the cat for emissions testing i would have went turbo.

as far as install if you kit a complete kit its pretty much bolting it up, maybe a small amount of fabing/drilling to mount an intercooler.

sounds an opinion but i like the whistle my car has at idle, a rotors blower has a whine when you get on it and a turbo you don't hear so much except the bov.

Ok, so turbo it obviously is. Next question is how much for a good quality complete kit?
