Need help peicing together a cheap turbo kit 03 zx3 2.0 zetec

I have an 03 zx3 with a 2.0 zetec engine. its practically all stock besides a CAI and Cat back exhaust.
Im looking for a turbo kit, that would suit this car.
But my problem is money, so i need they cheapest thing to find. Used or new, doesnt bother me much.
Im going to install this myself with my dad, he was once a mechanic and proly some help from an experienced person.

I need some help as to where to look, my buddies got turbo kits for about under a grand and im looking for the same or cheaper.
Im just want a bang for a buck, u know.
Nothing extreme. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

You're not gonna get the whole thing for under a grand unless you buy horribly crappy parts. I'd say if you find some good deals and put it together yourself and do the tuning yourself (which I wouldn't recommended unless you've done it before on a Focus) then you MIGHT be able to get it for around $2000. But realistically I'd say if you piece it together yourself and get good quality parts and have it tuned you'll be looking at spending around $2500-$3000.

So basically start saving up right now and look around on the Buy/Sell section on here. You should be able to find some kits on there and ask the seller about payments or if you've saved up enough just buy one. And I'd ask Tom about the tuning. He does remote tuning and he's pretty much the best in the business. If you don't know who he is his name on here is 1turbofocus. Send him a PM to ask about the tuning.

honestly there are some things you can get away with going lower on quality but a turbo kit isnt one of them. tom's DIY kit really would be a good place for you to start for piecing together a really really really good kit. otherwise look for a used kit on the buy/sell/trade area or take your chances on ebay. for goodness sake stay away from the actual ebay brand kits. unless its an actual brand name kit dont even waste your time

cheap, fast, reliable. pick 2. Things for the focus aren't cheap like they are in the Honda world.

I really wouldn't recommend that. Like I said look around on here and you'll be able to find a used kit and ask the seller if they will take payments. You'll be glad you did this in the long run.

i have an odd question. i understand you change the feul injectors with getting a turbo.
does this drastically hurt your gas mileage or just when you open up the car?

Well technically from what I understand if you Turbo your car and go really light on it it can actually increase your mpgs. But if you get on it at all your mpgs will go down. I'm not sure just how much though.

on a light turbo build the gas mileage would stay about the same so long as you stay out of the boost just like was said above. on a heavier build gas mileage will go down depending how heavy the build is.
