?'s about tunes and changing rev limiter

hi tom i plan on getting a tune from you in the near future as i have the wife talked into it now. i was wondering if there would be any benefit in raising the rev limiter to 7600. its on a basically stock motor, it will have a aluminum flywheel and a set of thundervolt wires. i understand that i will need a wideband to get it tuned to its peak performance. that will come at a later date though.

thanks for your time.
Brandon

Rev limiter

I have never heard about a rev limiter in the chip, is it stock or an add on?
I am just getting mine running so I still have the Diablo custom tune of 2007.
My SVT is in a MG Midget with a Mustang T5 trans.
I was looking at my real time data and saw the engine ran to 9200 once.
I hope it did not break or bend anything.

do wah? 9200rpms with a focus engine? i am not sure about the rev limiter in the SVT but on regular zetec model foci the rev limiter is at just under 7k. you can raise or lower it by re flashing the computer. i would never take one of these engines over 7000 unless it was an accident or completely built to the gills. what engine modifications are in the midget?

You should NOT of been able to to to 9200 unless some one took off the rev limiter and that wouldnt be wise , these oil pumps are not very good past 7500

I sent you an answer to your email

thats fine i planned on doing that but i thought maybe the wideband would help. i put a second muffler on my car cause it crackled and popped and i thought the 2nd muffler would help stop that. well i think it hurt my performance. am i correct in assuming if i take off the second muffler it will increase my performance?

Hi Tom!

Long time no see...

In a couple of weeks is it finally time to start my new engine for the first time. What would be a wice limit to set the rev to? 7000RPM? Maybe more?

Specification:
  • CGI block
  • Crower rods
  • CP pistons
  • Balanced and nitrided stock crank
  • ACL bearings
  • ARPs
  • C-F-M billet gear oil pump
  • Focus WRC waterpump

Many thanks!

Best Regards, Per-Anders.
