Diablosport logging for VCT diagnostics?

I've got a DS from Focus Power, and I've started having problems with my VCT (02 SVT).

I'm trying to narrow down the possible causes - I just replaced the VCT solenoid, again. It drives OK for a while, then randomly at a stoplight it will bog and go into limp mode (or what feels like it) - not always showing a check engine light but always logging a P1383 (cam timing over-retarded). If I can shut the car off and back on, it will often run strong again for a while.

I have a new cam timing sensor to install next, but would like to know if I can do any datalogging to determine exactly what is happening. I've already got the part number for a new VCT mechanism, but for nearly $300 I'd like to avoid that!

Thanks for any help or info!

OK - I think I see what my mistake must be. I was just trying to log under the 'Diagnostics' part of the DS itself. Sounds like what I really need to do is have my laptop hooked up and doing the logging, right?

I'll get something from it tomorrow - thanks!

Mother-f-er...

Looked at the oil, and what is supposed to be 45min-old Royal Purple 5W-30 doesn't look anything even close. Looks like the Stealership decided to steal my oil, and either used whatever crap they had, or didn't bother changing the oil at all.

I assume it is pointless to diagnose further until I know I have the right viscosity in the car.

So the oil is now known to be fresh 5W-30 - no difference.

The VCT solenoid and cam timing sensor have been replaced.

Tom - do I have to have a particular version of the Predator? I got everything hooked up, but didn't have the 'live data streaming' option on my Predator (under Diagnostics)

Some more info:

I can fairly consistently clear the code, start the car, and run it hard without a problem. What seems to trigger it is droning along a moderate RPM, or bogging the motor from a stop.

Some facts that may be relevant - I have a 30psi OP warning switch/LED that will come on at idle when the oil is good and hot, but goes off at the slightest blip of the throttle (chose the high PSI so I could see that it is functioning - if it doesn't go off or comes on at all on the track, then I know there's a problem).

I've replaced VCT solenoid and cam timing sensor, only thing left is the VCT mechanism. Car has 97k miles - the last 30k of me hammering on it. I think I may spend the $270 and get this car good enough

Tom - I have access to an OTC Solarity - can I use that to log the data needed?

Thanks!
