Clutch Issues.....HELP!!!!

Ok, so I got my focus out today and experienced a bit of slippage, then total loss in my clutch. If I " FLOAT " the gears I can drive it but when I stop I have to turn the car off completely, push the shifter into 1st then push the clutch pedal in and start the car and give it gas so I can pull out. Sounds like it needs a new clutch kit to me, my question is.....Could it be the slave cylinder and if so would I experience anything else as far as symptoms if it was. Please help...........

Is the clutch slipping...(engine revving up in gear with clutch out but not accelerating the car), or is the clutch not releasing(you press the clutch down but the trans isn't disengaging from the engine? If it is slipping you most likely have a worn out clutch. If it is not releasing that could be a hydraulic problem.

When I push the clutch in I can't change gears. If you start the car in gear, with the clutch pedal pressed it tries to pull. If you start the car in neutral, then push the clutch in, you cannot get it in gear. Hope this helps with understanding the exact problem......thanks for the help!!!

Actually ended up being the clutch itself. The fibers on the disc completey frayed off and nearly destroyed the flywheel because of the rivets that hold the fibers to the clutch disc. So with that said, I went ahead and replaced it with a 6 puck racing clutch kit from ACT. Just got the car put back together yesterday and took out for the first test drive, and DAMN what a upgrade! Highly recommended. Much better clutch response now! Thanks for the help though.

Maybe but if so, bring on some more especially since this was an upgrade I planned on doing anyway. However I thank you for such a thoughtful remark!!!
