SVT Head (Build for High Rev)

My question is about the SVT head. What steps would you take to spin the engine to 8600 rpm?

I'm building an engine and I want to spin it to 8000-8600.

Thanks for your help.

I dunno but I'm assuming you would need alll new head work, valves and stuff too. I know for sure the engine is capable of spinning to 7500 at least instock form and the valves are good to almost 8000 from what I understand. Why you want so much high end power? I'de try and gain some torque if anything!!

The goal is to see what power is in the upper rpms. Not that I would be driving the car all the time in higher rpms. Hp is not at the top of my list. I want to build a strong engine and spin it fast if I want to. :)

I havent done the legwork, but try digging into european tuners. They've taken the ST170 zetec way, way farther than we have naturally aspirated. The only thing I can say with any certainty is you'll need a different oil pump, it's the first weak link keeping the engine below 8000rpm.

I know there's at least one guy here 8000rpm cutoff on his SVT - I think it's supercharged as well. So I can't imagine it's unattainable, but if you need to start ordering european parts it's gonna get mad pricey.

Good luck... the stock cams DIE around 7400.... you may keep on spinning it but your not making any more power.

The valves are not an issue to take to 10,000RPM and Im not sure the cams realy give out as much as a combonation of things
Intake manifold
Valve springs
Size of Exh
Compression
VCT settings

My first question would be why do you want to go to 8600RPM

I think you need to do a little more research on your "goal". If you just want to rev the motor that high, you are an idiot. LOL

If you have a certain whp goal or a quarter mile time that would be a better goal. I would assume the stock i/m and e/m would die out around the same time the cams do. Someone said 7400 rpm's above. If you have a properly sized plenum with velocity stacks inside, an e/m with a TRUE MERGE COLLECTOR, a bottom end that will handle the rev's (including oil pump), a built head and last but not least cams to make power that high, I dont see why you couldnt do it.

But, the main question I have is, why? So you can compete with the bumble bee's in the honduhhhhh world?
