Cam timing

I'm saving currently for a tune but remembered this small tidbit about my car and was wondering if it would bring about complications at all.

About 2 years ago I had a UDP kit installed on my car. The crank pulley bolt was a PITA to get off and apparently the shop opened the top of the engine to take a look at something and adjusted the cam belt for some reason (I'm not sure why, and I knew a lot less about cars then than I do now) After I got my car back, I discovered it would go into 'limp mode' quite frequently and took it back to them to see what was up. The guy test drove it with me and I agreed to drive it for a couple hundred miles to let the computer get used to whatever was different and it did. It would go into limp mode once in a while for a couple months, and then the problem dissapeared.

My questions are as follows...
1) Is this a major deal, or has the computer auto-corrected for possible crappy cam timing?
2) will a tune change timing in such a way as to make a possible underlying problem worse?

Thanks, Tom, everything I've read about you on the forums here has been nothing but good things and i look forward to getting a tune from you in the near future.

i didnt think the focus computer had a limp mode?....

a tune cant change your cam timing unless you have adjustable cam gear and have them adjusted manually.

There in no way to change cam timing with in a tune that can only be done at the cam gears

Yes the Focus has a limp mode but shouldnt come on unless your temp is super high

How does it Perform performance wise ? Is it sluggish ? does it rev good or normal?

The car runs fantastically. Revs great and pulls decently. It hasn't gone into limp mode in over 8 months or so, just wanted to make sure it wouldn't make a possible problem worse.
