"X" BOOST = "x" HP

Found this posted some where else

i have seen (and participated in ) several dynos from all different kinds of turbo's used on Foci and yes I understand the differences in small things that can effect power output and I know you can get aliitle more power per psi in the lower boost levels.

What I'm saying is in general... and this goes for just about all the dynos I've seen run... on the focus your going to see about 10whp per psi of boost. If you have head work, cams, different compression ratio... that all will effect power output as well.

HIS ANSWER -----------------------------------------------------

it's obvoiusly not "SMALL" power differences . just because your turbo is exceeding it's effeciency area at the power you are pushing out of it does not mean everyone is the same . you're just acting arrogant by continueing to not research or understand. i'm sorry but i'm only reacting to your replies *shrug* ...

so your turbo makes 10 whp / psi . and i'm making 12.5 whp / psi . hmm, i guess that's SUCH a drastic intense unbeleivable difference? LOL . i'm going to give you a real quick hint .... calculate the percentage of size difference between our turbos then look at our hp ........... *Drum roll*

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Readable boost is what is left in the intake that didnt make it into the Cyl. the size of the turbo will only VERY SLIGHTLY change this , Most the Foci i have played with Avg, 1Psi boost is = to 10 HP , going to a Diff. turbo will not gain you a 25% increase meaning changing turbos from the 1Psi = 10HP Avg. to another turbo on the same set up making 1Psi = 12.5HP , In my opinion a 25% increase would be a "drastic intense unbeleivable difference "

What will change the 1Psi = 10HP would be Larger Cams , Ported head with Larger Valves , Custom Intake

Now saying that im talking on the Focus Zetec style engine and its poor flow

Im allways willing to learn new things if anyone has something to add to change this

Tom

tom, you should be a news reporter by not cutting and pasting my entire answer . where i mentioned a lot more .

we've gotten along great in the past . this situation has made me realize there is no benefit in posting further or argueing with you guys anymore. 6 years of activity is as good as any :) . i see no benefit to continueing .

as one last attempt to reactify and defend the outcome, the car is making less then 300 wheel . approx 290 . which is approx 12.5 hp / psi due to the reasons you failed to mention and are very aware of . ie porting, 3" Exhaust, relocated iats for very aggressive ignition timing, large turbo operating in it's perfect effeciency range, effecient intercooler, aluminum welded piping, cool engine/ect/bay, VERY low spool and a magical elf .

ciao bro . good luck with everything

if u wish to watch the car grow then do so at www.svtoa.ca or www.lightspeedinnovations.com

Porting ,I looked at your engine list and there was nothing about any port work to the head or larger valves , If you have both these let me know but it changes the facts littlle

3 inch Exh helps the spool up but is very slight on how much flow goes into the engine

Iat nothing there to help

Aggressive timing , you cannot add any more timing then anyone else can so that has nothing to do the discussion

Larger turbo at peak efficiency again only so much air can enter an engine a turbo at peak efficiency wont let any more in the an good effieient turbo would

This has nothing to do with us getting along , why does it have to be an argument, just show me how your getting more air into your Cyl. then most everyone else is doing , im willing to learn

Your saying 290HP at the wheels as a rough guess what boost is this at , on most kits i have seen that would take about 18 to 19Psi

okay fine, here's your war: grow up tom . or rather, quit taking the cheap way out and accept the gain of using real "performance" turbos . 4,000 rpm spools of t3's ain't gotta cut it
